In this video, I re-visit the CMMG 22 conversion kit, this time with a felt spacer on the rear of the kit to take up any of the slop between the conversion kit itself and the face of the buffer. We first test with CCI Mini-Mags, AR-TAC, Federal AutoMatch, and Federal Bulk Pack 36gr. After this I run several movement-based drills showing what the kit is really optimized for, and show how to clear a basic malfunction (stovepipe) as well as include some slo-motion mag dumping footage. The barrel is a CMMG .22LR 1:16 twist 16” barrel, properly torqued into a 7075-T6 aluminum upper receiver with a 15” handguard. A Harris bipod provides support along with a rear bag, and a Geissele SSA-E trigger provides a crisp 2-stage target pull for maximum consistency. We also test a conventional CMMG conversion kit in a 16” 1:8 twist 5.56 upper, to show an accuracy comparison as well. Please refer to the video link below for more info on the rifle build itself. In this video, I compare two different 22LR load offerings from Federal-their Champion Value Pack 36gr CPHP and their AutoMatch 40gr LRN over the chronograph and on paper at 50 yards. All chronograph readings are on screen in live time for your viewing, and tabulated at the end with proper Averages, SD's, and ES data as well. I made the mistake of buying one of these again the other day, and realized just how bad it was when I took it out to the range for testing. Both types have been thoroughly tested in several bolt-action 22's, as well as semi-auto's and several 22 pistols.
