I fitted a block heater to this Defender 90 and today was an ideal day to test it! This was not set up and this was the first time it started – it was not staged. I kept the battery inside to avoid freezing. As YouTube have moved the goals to become monetized, and I have a niche channel, funding is never going to happen, so I have set up a Patreon as I would like to get a higher speed upload, which means I get post more videos, AND in 1080 Takes me about 2.5 hours to upload a 15 minutes at the moment. I will be giving credits to my supporters at the end of my videos from now on. I am very grateful to one and all! https://www.patreon.com/britrest If you have a pre 2005 Land Rover problem and do not know how to fix it, drop me a line! Maybe I can help! britrest@britrest.com
Here is an update on something I forgot to do to the heater duct – quite an easy fix though! If you have a pre 2005 Land Rover problem and do not know how to fix it, drop me a line! Maybe I can help! britrest@britrest.com
Another test, this time with a Flir thermal imaging camera Pictures at the end showing heater outlets and max temperature attained at idle after a short run Cheap and cheerful modification to the heater box with excellent results! You can do this modification to any pre 2007 Land Rover – and it works! If you have a pre 2005 Land Rover problem and do not know how to fix it, drop me a line! These heater ducts are a king’s ransom to buy – and for what I want, this ‘modification’ will do the job just fine! In addition, look at the savings! (Rovers North prices in US Dollars) Heater duct $2600.00 Heater blower $750.00 = $3350.00 US, NOT including conversion to Canadian or transport from the US! So, C$4,245 + shipping and import costs you will not get much change out of C$5000 BUT, it cost a bit of paint, a DIN cover $3, a few pop rivets, and a bit of sheet steel and a bit of time Don't know about you, but I ain't paying Land Rover prices! This is an old video from 2 years ago on a customer’s Right Hand Drive 300 Tdi Sorry no commentary You can do this modification to any pre 2007 Land Rover – and it works! If you have a pre 2005 Land Rover problem and do not know how to fix it, drop me a line! Maybe I can help! britrest@britrest.com
Testing the heater blower in the heater box - got me videos a bit mixed up but I think you can get the drift. The blowers are fine, IF you take out all the directional ducting for the cold air side (which nobody uses anyway) You can do this modification to any pre 2007 Land Rover – and it works! If you have a pre 2005 Land Rover problem and do not know how to fix it, drop me a line! Maybe I can help! britrest@britrest.com
Modifying the vents, changing from right hand drive to left hand drive – and don't forget to oil the cable before assembly! Forgot to say! You can do this modification to any pre 2007 Land Rover – and it works! If you have a pre 2005 Land Rover problem and do not know how to fix it, drop me a line! Maybe I can help! britrest@britrest.com
