These art tutorials are designed for beginners who want to learn to draw. Each drawing is done step by step so they are easy to follow.
This videos is the second in the series and assumes you are a complete beginner to drawing. Using graphite and pencil we shall draw an onion. I'll explain a simple way to draw straight lines without a ruler and how to draw curves. I'll demonstrate how to get drama and passion into drawn lines. Drawing is about confidence, but it is also about creating different effects with the pencil. How you hold a pencil affects how you draw. Using your wrist, elbow and shoulder can affect how you draw with graphite or pencil. This video explains how these different methods of holding a pencil will improve your drawing. This easy drawing tutorial is the second in my series on how to draw with Edges not Outlines. It takes the idea of drawing with edges a stage further to create the drawing of a jug, essentially a still life drawing. We we start with an outline drawing but use edges to create the 3D effect. By using edges and varying tone the final drawing can be achieved. It is important to establish where the light is coming from to ensure the light and shade is correct. Pencil drawing for beginners: In this art tutorial video I use my extensive art teaching experience to show beginners how to draw using edges not outlines. Learning these simple basic techniques in a step by step approach will improve your drawing. The art tutorial explains how to draw using edges rather than outlines for a more effective drawing. The video is aimed at beginners and those wishing to extend their drawing skills. I draw with a block of graphite, but you could do the same with chalk, charcoal or pastel. Taking a piece of graphite between fingers and thumb I exert more pressure on one side rather than pressing equally. This is how the edge is created. In this easy drawing tutorial, the third in my series on drawing for beginners, I explain how to use shading to create depth and distance in a drawing. I demonstrate how, by varying the pressure on the pencil, you can create different tones of shading. I then focus on two important techniques: 1. Contrast - by creating contrast you can make objects appear to stand out, dark against light will often make the lighter object stand out. 2. Shading objects lighter next to dark objects, the darker objects will often come forward, this is the basis of creating depth in a drawing. In this easy line drawing tutorial on How to Draw with Lines for beginners using a pencil, I explain how the eye reads lines. Because the eye reads lines, the lines can tell the eye/brain what angle, shape, depth, distance etc. is being created by the lines. Although the paper surface is flat the lines can make it appear to be three dimensional, you can create the illusion of space and depth just with line. I show how to make hills look curved, cylinders look rounded, circles look like balls and roads and rivers look flat all with the correct use of line. Pencil drawing for beginners: In this easy drawing tutorial video I show beginners how to draw with curves by learning basic techniques in a simple step by step approach. The art tutorial is designed for complete beginners to drawing and makes it easy to draw. With curves you can draw a lot of objects very simply such as; ribbons, flags, grass, cliffs leaves etc. I shall show you stage by stage how to create each of these items by sketching the basic outlines and then using a 4B pencil to shade in the detail. I also explain how by shading horizontally you can make a surface look flat and can make a surface look vertical; by shading up and down i.e. vertically. Learn to draw a watering can simply. In this art tutorial I look at the basic technique of how we look at an object as a series of shapes and then I explain how to draw the shapes step by step. I use a simple metal watering can as an example. I show how to look at the object and determine its basic shapes and to ignore the detail. This is essential if you are going to draw the basics of the object first. Once the basics are established any detail, light and shade can be added.
